Breville Coffee Maker BKC700XL Review
Nothing wakes up your senses like the smell of freshly brewed coffee in the morning. It is my wake up alarm and something I look forward to. So when my trusty coffee maker broke down, I knew I’d need to look out for a new one immediately. My search ended when I crossed paths with the Breville BKC700XL Gourmet coffee maker. Once I knew that it could make a mean java and I could make myself some good old iced coffee as well, I was sold.
Let’s get technical, shall we!
With it lovely metallic silver finish, the Breville BKC700XL Gourmet single cup coffee maker is sure to be the cynosure of all eyes. But its beauty isn’t just skin deep. This lean mean ‘Coffee Machine‘ is able to hit the perfect temperature (between 195-250F) to make the perfect brew because of its power output of 1500W.
Now if like me you like to wake up to the smell of freshly brewed coffee, then the timer functionon this machine is perfect for you. Even if you feel you will not use, do not disregard this very time saving and efficient function on your coffee maker. It is perfect for busy working-day morning and if you set your timer for your convenience you can rush out the door with that perfect steaming cuppa! Now to prevent can anti-climax (smell of burnt coffee) to the above scenario, the auto shut off function is perfect and not just for absent minded people like myself. Burnt coffee residue is a real pain to get rid off and also leaving an appliance in an unoccupied house is very dangerous. So this simple function button saves everyone a lot of trouble. No sense in burning down a house for a pot of coffee.
I do not particularly like coffee machines with built in grinders. There are usually very few grinding options and very difficult to keep clean, so I was glad when this machine came without a built-in grinder. I feel a good investment is always a separate grinder and Coffee Making machine for that perfect brew. Breville BKC700XL Gourmet single cup coffee machine goes that extra mile to give you that perfect tasting coffee by providing a built-in water filter. This clears the taste of chlorine and iron from your tap water making sure that nothing comes in the way of your wonderful coffee.

A person’s taste in coffee is just as different and varied as their taste in clothes or gadgets. So a coffee machine that comes with adjustable strength settings is like celebrating diversity and understanding the fact that not everyone likes their coffee the same way. This function makes it an ideal coffee machine for the masses.
It is also a very easy machine to keep clean as it comes with a removable water tank and the auto switch off function and the absence of the in-built grinder also help towards this. As it is a single cup coffee maker, it does not come with a pause and serve function, but it does have a 60ounce water tank and can easily make about 10cups of coffee.
It is not too bulky a machine (height- approx 16 ¾ inches, length – approx 12 ¾ inches and depth- approx 14 ¾ inches) and can hold pride of place on your breakfast counter or your kitchen counter.
Getting value for money
In the case of Breville BKC700XL Gourmet coffee maker, it meets all your expectations and goes above and beyond to make your love affair with coffee as fulfilling as possible. The quiet pump technology is a boon for early risers who like a cup of coffee early, but do not like to disturb anyone with the sound the coffee machine makes. This coffee machine is almost a whisper when compared to the others and so one need not worry about disturbing anyone else’s precious sleep.
Another interesting feature is the showerhead spray which ensures that the hot water is sprayed evenly on the coffee to get the great brew and ensures even extraction and great coffee. This showerhead spray is so much easier than having the water drip constantly in one place and having to stir it around to get the perfect blended brew. This breakthrough technology does all the hard work for us.
On hot and sweltering days some of us like our beverage cold not hot! Breville BKC700XL Gourmet coffee maker has a solution for that as well! The perfect cold coffee! The cold coffee function gives an exact 3 ½ ounce shot of coffee or tea. All we need to do is add water or ice to dilute and drink up and cool down. The sample K\-cup Coffee pods this machine comes with also includes flavors like cocoa and tea as well.
Moving with the times, this coffee machine has a spangled LCD panel which shows when the machine is in the on or off mode and at what strength the brew has been set at and the five brew strengths available. The measuring spoon provided with this can turn out to a true coffee lover’s best friend. Once you have figured out how you like your coffee, remember to use the measuring spoon for the perfect measure at all times. I also personally like the reusable coffee filter (reusable my K cup) as it is definitely more cost effective than the use and throw ones.
Patience…Patience…Patience
This coffee machine cannot be used to brew until it has been primed first. This means that the water tank needs to be filled up, heated and made to run a full cycle without any coffee pods in it before you officially make your first cup of coffee. The LCD display will let you know that your machine is ready. Believe me…the wait is definitely worth it.
